Last title cards
scene
Meet Mark Zuckerberg. He's smart, obnoxious, arrogant, and obsessed with Final Clubs at Harvard. His girlfriend Erica dumps him.
Mark goes through Harvard to his dorm as the titles roll.
Mark bitterly blogs about the breakup. He decides to build the Facemash website that lets people compare the appearance of Harvard girls.

This intercuts with scenes of a party at a Final Club. There's lots of alcohol and lots of hot girls willing to get sexy to get the attention of these Harvard guys.
Eduardo comes to Mark's dorm room, gives him an algorithm for the comparison of the pictures.

Meanwhile, things are getting wild in the Final Club.
Mark launches Facemash, sends it out to some people. It sweeps through Harvard as we see many people using it to compare girls.
Erica sees Mark's blog post about her. She is offended and teased by guys about it.
Facemash is taking off! Harvard girls are offended!
Facemash takes down the Harvard network due to all the traffic.
In the future, Mark is being deposed about the Facemash events. Mark is more concerned about what Erica said about him than about the deposition.
Meet the Winkelvosses, twins rowing a boat on the river.
The Winkelvosses and Divya, their business partner, decide to approach Mark to build their website.
We get introduced to the second deposition room where depositions for the second suit are going on.
Mark is brought up on charges for Facemash. He's a jerk about it.

He gets six months academic probation.
Mark is disliked by the women of Harvard. He's a jerk to his computer science professor. But he is smart.
Mark agrees to build the website for the Winkelvosses and Divya.
In intercut scenes between the two deposition rooms, Mark grudgingly says he proposed the idea for Facebook to Eduardo soon after talking to the Winkelvosses.
Mark recruits Eduardo for Facebook. Eduardo agrees to be the business guy. This conversation gets intercut with Eduardo's deposition describing those events.
Eduardo testifies to the second suit that Mark knew about the Winkelvosses' idea.
Mark works on TheFacebook while, in the deposition, the Winkelvoss lawyer reads emails showing that he was snowing the Winkelvosses.

Meanwhile, Eduardo is going through the hazing rituals to get into the Phoenix Club.
Eduardo makes the next cut for the Phoenix Club. Mark is passive-aggressive about it. Eduardo agrees to provide more money for TheFacebook.

Meanwhile, the reading of the emails Mark wrote to the Winkelvosses continues.

Mark and Eduardo launch TheFacebook.
Divya learns about TheFacebook.
Divya tells the Winkelvosses that Mark launched TheFacebook.
Cameron Winkelvoss doesn't want to get into a public fight with Mark. Tyler Winkelvoss and Divya do. They consult a lawyer.
Mark says he didn't want the Winkelvoss money to back TheFacebook - he wanted Eduardo because they were friends.
TheFacebook takes off at Harvard. Pretty girls express an interest in Mark and Eduardo because of it.
Eduardo and Mark glory in their newfound fame as creators of TheFacebook.
Eduardo wants to put ads on the site. Mark doesn't. It's the first sign of business disagreement between the two.

Eduardo finds out that Mark got a cease-and-desist letter from the Winkelvosses. He sent back a denial response that he put together with help from a law student.

Mark is a jerk in the deposition.
Mark and Eduardo go out with Christy and Alice, two girls who are interested in them because of TheFacebook. They have sex in men's room stalls. They're thrilled that they have groupies.
Mark sees Erica in the club. He tries to talk to her, but she tells him off. She hasn't heard of TheFacebook, which bugs him.

Spurred by this, Mark tells Eduardo they have to go wide with TheFacebook. It's to show up Erica.
Mark decides to expand to other universities, and to make sure it's publicized to BU, where Erica goes. Eduardo adds Stanford to the list of universities to expand to, so that Silicon Valley hears about them.
Mark and Marylin, one of his lawyers, have a moment during a break in the deposition.
The Winkelvosses and Divya hear that Mark is expanding. They decide to complain to the president of Harvard that Mark stole their idea.
Enter Sean Parker. He hears of Facebook.
The Winkelvosses complain to the president of Harvard. He is not impressed. They get nowhere.
Eduardo tries to sell ads on Facebook, but Mark sabotages the meeting.
Mark meets Sean. He is enthralled with Sean. Eduardo, not so much.
Mark loves Sean. Eduardo does not.
Eduardo is confronted by Mark's lawyers about the incident with the chicken, in which Eduardo, as a Phoenix hazing ritual, made him bring a chicken around campus and Eduardo fed it chicken. It was a tempest in the Harvard teapot.
Mark asks Eduardo for more money, says he's going to California. Eduardo agrees to fund it.

Meanwhile, they pass 150,000 members.
Mark recruits new programmers with a combination hacking and drinking game.
Mark is a jerk in the deposition.
Mark and the programmers are in Palo Alto. By goofing around, they knock down the chimney.
Sean shows up at the house. Sean is impressed by the house, less impressed by the fact that Eduardo didn't come out.
Sean and Mark go out to a club. Once again, Sean has Mark enthralled. Sean reveals that being dissed by a girl motivated him to build Napster. But he doesn't care about her any more, unlike Mark, who clearly still cares about Erica.

Eduardo breaks up with Christy.
Eduardo signs legal documents.

They aren't good for him, but he doesn't know that yet.

Mark tells him he'll have to come back for the million member party.
Under the influence of Sean, Mark disses a VC.
Eduardo goes back to the Facebook offices. He finds out that he's being leveraged out of Facebook and has had most of his shares devalued down to nothing.

He has a nasty confrontation with Mark and Sean. He threatens them with lawyers. He is escorted out by security.

Mark shows some regrets. Sean, none.

They pass the million member mark.
Sean does drugs with college girls including a Facebook intern. Police show up and break up the party, arrest Sean.
Sean tells Mark of the arrest. Mark starts to realize what Sean is.
Marylin convinces Mark that he would lose a trial, he has to settle, and will have to pay a lot of money. She tells Mark he seems to want to be an asshole.

Mark looks up Erica on Facebook, friends her. Waits to see if she accepts. And waits. And waits.
We learn that the Winkelvosses got $60 million in their suit.

Eduardo got an undisclosed sum, but he is credited as a Facebook cofounder.
